Step 10: In order to verify that the book you are seeking is (1) within the FGLI Textbook Library AND (2) available for checkout, the following must be true for at least one row: the information under Status must read ‘Item in place’ AND the information under Your Loan Policy must read ‘Not loanable’ AND ‘LIBRA – Course Text’ should be above it. (Note: Number of rows correlates to number of copies within the FGLI Textbook Library)

Q: When can I begin to make requests?
A: Starting January 5, 2021, requests will begin to be processed. It is recommended for students to make requests after this date.

Q: Should I get my request mailed or should I pick it up?**
A: During the foreseeable future, the library will have limited hours. Unless you live close by and make it within hours of operations, please request items to be mailed.

Q: What are the libraries hours of operations?
A: In Spring of 2021, the hours are Monday-Friday from 10 am ET – 2 pm ET.

Q: Do I have to pay to get it mailed? What if I’m international or out-of-state?

Q: Can I put a book on hold?
A: No.

Q: My item is not in the LIBRA - Course Text Catalog or in Penn Libraries system?
A: Unfortunately, the GIC cannot offer every course text needed, but we are working hard to address this need. If you would like to suggest which course texts we should add to the catalog, please fill out this form - https://forms.gle/dFX7X7i7Ns6gjM176 .
It is not a guarantee of purchase, but we will try our best to acquire reasonable request in the near future. Please try Borrow-Direct, EZ Borrow, and other resources offered by Penn Libraries.

Q: I know my item is in the FGLI Textbook Library, but I can’t find it in the LIBRA catalog?
A: Please reach out to the GIC, so that we can help you get to the bottom of this.
