Join the African-American Resource Center & the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnership for a Zoom discussion of When the Marches End!
In response to the civil unrest and protesting of social injustices, we will discuss why we are marching, what we hope to gain, and what are next steps. The big question is : ARE WE FOR REAL, THIS TIME??? Tuesday, June 30, 2020 | 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. EDT Zoom ID: 935 0337 3052 Facebook Live Event: https://www.facebook.com/African-American-Resource-Center-AARC-220118588031952/ Applications Open for Fall 2020 Cohort of Asian Pacific American Leadership Initiative (APALI)6/22/2020 Applications for the Fall 2020 Cohort of Asian Pacific American Leadership Initiative (APALI) are now open!
We are currently seeking undergraduate students for the Fall 2020 program. Traditionally, the semester-long program consists of an off-campus retreat at the beginning of the spring semester and six sessions every other week. However, due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, plans for the APALI retreat and/or sessions are subject to change. Nevertheless, we are planning on continuing APALI regardless of the situation. We are asking potential applicants and future participants to be highly flexible with the structure of the program in this historical time. The mission of APALI is to empower Asian Pacific Islander Americans by providing a foundation through identity exploration and leadership training in order to support future endeavors. In APALI, the goal is to support the development of a diverse cohort of AAPI leaders to have an understanding of the AAPI community and its issues along with promoting active involvement in the Penn community. Given the global attention on racial justice and the Black Lives Matter movement, we’d like to emphasize that this moment cannot start and end with the concerted action from the past two weeks. We must continue to actively learn and engage in such dialogues to understand our positionality as Asian Americans. Applications for the Fall 2020 cohort are due electronically by 11:59 PM ET on June 26, 2020. The application is available here: https://tinyurl.com/apalifall2020. Please contact Peter Van Do at [email protected] or any facilitator if you have any questions. The African-American Resource CenterPresents A Closer Look: How Racism Became the new Pandemic (A Virtual Webinar) "When America gets a cold, we get the Pneumonia!"
